Evangelia Portouli holds a Mechanical Engineer degree with excellence from the National Technical University of Athens. Initially she worked in the industrial field, designing and developing prototype systems for vehicles. Then she worked as research consultant in various consultancy companies in the area of intelligent transportation systems. Later she worked as researcher in the Hellenic Institute of Transport of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas. Since 2010 she works as Senior Researcher in the I-SENSE group of ICCS. She is mainly interested in cognitive ergonomics, especially for the design and development of driving support and automation systems. She has extensive experience in driving behavior studies using driving simulator or equipped research vehicles on road. Lately, she has been involved in intelligent charging control algorithms for future electric vehicles.
